Kulinarya & Gatley Holiday Wall

A week after we installed the Livia holiday evergreens wall, Kulinarya and Gatley reached out to me and Calida to set up their holiday decor. Since the two shop fronts are literally right next to each other, Calida and I decided to make two complementary floral installs that play off of each other.

Kulinarya is a Filipino restaurant, so we decided to really amp up the tropical vibes with huge king protea, banksia, and fan palms and nestle them amongst some local and imported evergreens like cedar, pine, and carolina sapphire. We accented the whole lot with some gypso, tinted plumosa, and a variety of eucalyptus for texture.

For Gatley, we decided to make two extra large garlands with similar evergreens, but we went with very west coast vibes; Gatley carries a variety of products from west coast artisans and makers, so we really wanted to highlight that with our choice of foliage. We used Boston ferns, dagger ferns, and a variety of foraged flora for Gatley’s windows. We then accented the textural greens with gold-painted grevillea, leucadendron jade pearl, tinted plumosa, and some seeded eucalyptus.

It truly was a delight to step back and look at the two store fronts side by side after the work was complete!

Meanwhile, over at Livia, owners Claire and Jordan hung some evergreen and eucalyptus garlands and Christmas lights alongside the evergreen wall we designed and I could not help but drive over there one evening to get some long exposures of the bakery.

If looking at this does not inject you with some sort of holiday spirit… then I don’t know what will.

Happy Winter Solstice! Brighter days ahead from this day forward.
