Face and Form

I approach portraiture much like an open-ended narrative. Viewing Cindy Sherman's 'Untitled Self-Portraits' for the first time when I was an art student in university became the ultimate catalyst for the way I capture people now; I am often looking for mystery, whimsy, lightness, darkness, humour - any sense of a story, really - when photographing people for a look book, a visual art series, or when documenting life in passing.

I am heavily inspired by the work of Gregory Crewdson, Sally Mann, Tim Walker, Andre Kertesz, Carrie Mae Weems, Francesca Woodman, and of course, Cindy Sherman - whose body of work planted a seed in my practice as a photographer - one that continues to grow to this day.
